Today I want to welcome all the new people who subscribed to this newsletter/blog. I hope you enjoy my semi-regular updates. A great many of you signed up over Thanksgiving weekend when I was signing books out at the Chehalem tasting room. Thanks to all of you for your curiosity and support. I sure was fun meeting you all!
NaNoWriMo (that would be National Novel Writing Month, aka November) was great for me. Although I didn’t finish the draft, I got a huge chunk of Novel #3 in the Emma Golden Mystery Series written. More important, the novel has come into focus and is moving forward at a good clip. Holidays, work, and life in general always interfere with my writing schedule. I’m a big fan of The Moment, and when it presents itself my instinct is to join in. It’s a good thing. It’s a bad thing. It’s me. I’d like to be able to write a book a year, but for now that is not an option. We will live with it.
For those of you who did not pick up this information on Facebook or in person, I received an honorable mention for my essay, “Blood Sport”, in the Winning Writers Sports fiction and essay writing contest, a national contest. Along with the HM came a check and a dandy certificate. Winners of the 2014 contest were announced November 15. I was thrilled to be in the circle with so many other fine writers.
On the home front, Thanksgiving is past. December is crazy. Please, during this busy season, take a moment to count your blessings, lend a helping hand, and take good care of yourself and those around you, including the animals. And don’t forget to enjoy The Moment.
