Is anyone out there?

September 27, 2009 / / The Writer's World / 5 Comments

Since watching “Julie and Julia” yesterday, I’ve been fretting that nobody, nobody reads my blog.

This is not a comforting thought. If you are out there, please check in and say HI, or Hey!, or Yo!, or whatever it is you use to address other folks in a friendly way. If you’re grumpy I probably don’t want to hear from you, but anything constructive is a go. I would find it very exciting if this was a bit more interactive.

In the movie, Julie worried about nobody reading her blog. Then she was criticized by her husband for being “narcissistic”. Blogging is by nature a narcissistic activity…unless other people get involved and liven things up a bit. Otherwise it’s just me, and I don’t want to think it’s all about me because it isn’t.

I loved “Julie and Julia”. Nora Ephron nailed it. Stanley Tucci was divine as Paul. And Meryl Streep–ohmigod! Feel free to weigh in and we can talk about it.

As I write this, I am absolutely beat. Before seeing the film yesterday, I shopped and prepped for my winery cooking and made a plum tart with the last edible plums on the Italian plum tree in the back yard. This involved some climbing, not to mention grabbing a number of over-the-hill plums because it’s kinda dark under those leaves. Today I cooked Chicken Seychelles–a fabulous chicken curry with mandarin oranges, almonds, raisins, cinnamon, cilantro…….errrr……it was delish! And caprese salad and a mixed greens salad. Picked up a Daily Loaf from Baker & Spice. The Chehalem crew ate like wolverines, and that always makes me feel good. I am part Italian mama, or Jewish mama, or one of those who’s always saying, “Eat, EAT!!!”

Tomorrow it’s back to work on Chapter 7, and after that Chapter 8, and so on until the next book is finished.

Bon Appetit!

Well, I suppose one could say blogs are narcissistic but you’d be wrong. Narcissism is all about caring for oneself, absolute selfishness. A blog is about sharing, giving to your visitors of your wit and wisdom. they are the ultimate podium.
If you are seeking interaction, you must either be totally controversial and rub peeps the wrong way or create posts that inspire visitors to interact.

Glad to hear you saw “Julie and Julia!’ I, too, loved the film in all ways. Your Chicken Seychelles sounds great. Might your blogging fans be gifted with the recipe?

The Chicken Seychelles recipe is found on the Market of Choice web site. It ran in their May advert.

Julie and Julia was pretty inspiring for bloggers, huh? I thought about you when I saw it. Oh, good now I can come to your blog to see what you’re thinking about.

I had the same reaction after seeing the movie! Fortunately, my book blog has a counter, so even if there are no comments I know that (some) people are reading–even if they are lazy! My personal blog is another story…
